Regional Director of Central Massachusetts - (190004C0)
Description
The Regional Director of Central Massachusetts manages and directs all Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living/Social Service programs for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) Worcester regional office. This position covers the central Massachusetts area and is based in the MCB Worcester office. The Regional Director develops regional goals and objectives; coordinates services; evaluates performance; prepares and monitors budgets; and hires, trains, and develops staff.
The Director oversees all regional fiscal activities such as review and approval of purchase orders, payment vouchers, travel reimbursements, and other financial documents. The Director makes strategic decisions regarding the full utilization of financial resources and identifies opportunities to expand resources available. The Director prepares state and federal reports and is responsible for creating new services and programs to meet the changing needs of MCB's consumers. The Director is responsible for developing a program of outreach to business leaders with the goal of enhancing employment opportunities for MCB job seekers. The Director will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide variety of community partners including schools, medical professionals, elder service organizations, and workforce investment boards. The Director will also develop collaborative relationships with local multi-cultural agencies and resources, and conduct outreach to diverse communities
to encourage participation in MCB services.
This position involves public speaking to educate the public about MCB services and programs. The Director will provide leadership for special projects in the services division. The Director interacts with staff from various departments within the agency and receives supervision from the Deputy Commissioner.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, or public administration and (B) of which at least four years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Master's or higher degree with a major in business administration, management, public administration, industrial engineering, industrial psychology, or hospital administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
